// Rumor: Campy sold?
Posted on Monday, August 3rd, 2009
I’m a devoted Campagnolo fan. I’m a total mess if I get on a bike that has Shimano components–I simply can’t figure out how to shift.

My bike wouldn't be the same without Campy components!
So when I heard rumors that Campy had been sold, I found myself in a bit of a panic. What would happen to my beloved Italian component manufacturer? How could I put any other brand of components onto my classic Italian Colnago frame? The rumors haven’t been confirmed, but who isn’t a sucker for speculation? The rumor is that Campy was sold to a Japanese company, which logically would be Shimano, right? Terrifying! However, A Shimano Europe spokesman said that he heard that rumours too, but that he could definitely deny any involvement of the Japan based component maker.
But when asked whether he could confirm or deny the sale, Campagnolo’s Marketing & Communication director Lorenzo Taxis said: “I am not going to give you an official answer on this, as this is not an official matter inside the company.” I don’t know about yout, but in my world if it’s not an official matter, then they weren’t sold. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, and so is my bike.
